Malcolm Brogdon delighted his Boston Celtics teammates and all fans watching in the arena and on TV after he drained a halfcourt buzzer-beater to end the first quarter of Game 2 against the Atlanta Hawks.
Brogdon got the ball off a Trae Young turnover, but with less than three seconds left and still half the court to run through, there wasn’t a lot of options for him to score. With that said, he decided to throw a Hail Mary instead, which miraculously went in.
Jaylen Brown and the rest of the Celtics couldn’t help but smile, while all fans in attendance at TD Garden cheered in celebration. After all, who doesn’t love to see such clutch shot early in the game?
Making things even better, it allowed the Celtics to take the 23-25 lead heading into the second quarter.

Malcolm Brogdon also received plenty of praises from Celtics fans on Twitter, with many citing how lucky Boston is to have him on their squad. Brogdon arrived in Beantown via a trade from the Indiana Pacers in the offseason, with Boston sending forwards Daniel Theis and Aaron Nesmith (among many others) along with a 2023 first round pick in order to land him.
It’s safe to say the Celtics did well in the trade.
Derrick White and Malcolm Brogdon are the definition of difference makers.

It will definitely be interesting to see how much more Brogdon can impact the Celtics, especially in their bid to make it back to the NBA Finals and get the job done. Sure enough, though, he’s off to a good start.
